We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic and professional EMS providers to assist in training the next generation of EMS professionals! 

 

The Part-Time Contract EMS Skill Trainer role involves providing hands-on guidance to EMT and EMR students. Trainers lead short skills demos and oversee skills practice sessions to ensure student competency. They support student learning using standardized materials and methods, and may also serve as state-approved EMS examiners, exam assistants, or simulated clinical patients. 

 

The position offers flexible scheduling in half-day increments and is well-suited for experienced EMTs who balance multiple professional commitments. The position is not intended for those looking for full-time employment.

 

Competencies:

 

  • Required: Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the State of Minnesota.
  • Preferred: Graduate of Allied Medical Training’s EMT program.
  • Preferred: 1 year or more of active experience as an EMT.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and classroom management skills.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic demeanor with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Passion for mentoring future EMS professionals.
  • Ability to follow structured classroom format and adhere to company standards.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, including dependable transportation and punctuality for all scheduled shifts.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to changes in curriculum that line up with the company’s goals.
  • Receptive to feedback and interest in continuous professional improvement.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Conduct EMT skills demonstrations and lead student practice sessions for classes of 5 to 30 students, using AMT’s approved training agendas, materials, and methods.
  • Follow structured lesson plans and adhere strictly to company-approved instructional protocols.
  • Support students’ skill development by providing accurate, constructive, and actionable feedback on their performance in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment while modeling professionalism, a strong work ethic, and focused task completion.
  • Balance friendliness and approachability with confident leadership and consistent classroom management.
  • Assist lead instructors with setting up practice equipment before sessions and cleaning and storing equipment afterward.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
