Which roles, if any, have you had as an EMT or EMS provider since graduating?

I had to take time to finish my degree, which I will finish this May, before I pick up a job as a full-timely EMT. But, I was able to work a shifts (around 10) in event medicine, primarily at music festivals and concert venues around the twin cities and I loved every second, even the scary ones when shit had hit the fan.

How do you feel Allied prepared you to work in EMS?

Allied’s In-Person portion, especially the “simulations” prepared me quite well for doing the job! They sort of primed me brain so that it would expect the unexpected. And, oh boy, even though I haven’t worked that many shifts, a lot of weird stuff goes down at those festivals, let me tell ya. But, because of the simulations, I went in expecting everything and ended being surprised by very little.

Do you have any advice for new EMTs?

I have no advice to give to new EMTs since I’m still quite new myself. Good luck to EMTs-to-be might see this!

Firefighter

How do you feel Allied prepared you to work in EMS?

Through Allied Medical Training, I gained the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take an active role on medical calls. It pushed me to step into leadership, strengthened my ability to support my team, and ultimately made me more effective in serving my community.

Do you have any advice for new EMTs?

My advice to new EMTs is to stay humble and stay curious. You won’t know everything right away-and that’s okay. Ask questions, lean on your team, and take every call as a learning opportunity. Confidence comes with time and experience, so focus on showing up, doing your best, and taking care of your patients and partners.

How do you feel Allied prepared you to work in EMS?

Allied was so critical in helping me prepare to work in the healthcare setting. The instructors were all super helpful and truly wanted us to succeed. The skills I learned are so applicable to many fields, even in a clinic setting in addition to a traditional emergency medicine setting. I am really glad I decided to train with Allied!

Do you have any advice for new EMTs?

Be willing to learn from your mistakes! Emergency medicine is such a fascinating field and there is so much to learn from. Be willing to embrace all the new things you will learn and continue to stay curious!
