When/Why did you first become interested in becoming an EMT/working in EMS?
I was looking for a change in my career and was inspired by AMT’s mission and work. I did not have any previous EMT/medical/healthcare experience, and it was not what I studied in college, but is something I always found interesting. I was impressed by the initial conversations I had with staff and it felt like the right fit for me!
How did your previous experience prepare you for working in EMS?
I have experience from numerous very different industries including national restaurant brands and non-profit. However, authentically engaging and building relationships with clients and customers is the common denominator. Having patience and kindness through every interaction and touch point goes a long way which is something I strive to do every day on the support side at AMT.
What is the most rewarding part about working for Allied?
The most rewarding part about working for Allied is hearing from students about how much they valued and appreciated their time at AMT. It is awesome to see how our whole team positively influences each and every student’s journey from registering for the course, doing the online portion, attending Skill Week and doing the Skills Exam, to taking the final exam and completing the course.
If you could give advice to someone looking to become an EMT, what would you tell them?
I would tell someone interested in becoming an EMT that they are about to embark on journey that will challenge them and change them in the best way! It is not every day that you get to help save lives and support other people in emergencies, but it is incredible work!
If you could live in any fictional world, where would it be?
If I could live in any fictional world I would want to live in the Harry Potter universe! I have loved the books and movies since I was a kid and wish it were real!
