When/why did you first become interested in working in the medical field?
I have always been interested in working in the medical field, but wasn’t sure where I belonged! In 2018, I was working in education and wanted to move to the healthcare field by pursuing nursing or phlebotomy. I started taking nursing classes at my local community college and began phlebotomy training. During this time, the pandemic started, which made me realize that I wanted to help my community right then and not have to wait until I completed nursing school. I realized I really had two passions: education and patient care.
Tell us about your experience in the healthcare field.
I actually first started working for AMT part-time as a clinicals patient back in 2016. In 2018, I became a trained phlebotomist at the American Red Cross. From 2018-2021, I worked at the Red Cross and different Twin Cities hospitals as a phlebotomist while going to school for nursing.
In 2021, I decided to gain more healthcare knowledge and experience by taking the EMT initial course with AMT. In 2022, I was offered a position with AMT as the Support Specialist for the company. I took the position happily, knowing that I would be working in both education and healthcare, which was my ultimate career goal!

What is the most rewarding part about working in EMS education?
The most rewarding part of working in EMS education is seeing the amount of care each student has for their community. Every student that comes through our doors is excited to learn and make a difference in the world.
What is your favorite part about working for Allied Medical Training?
I love interacting with the students, whether it be by phone, email, or in person! It is fun to learn about everyone’s journey and how they chose to become an EMT. We get students of all ages from all over the world, each with a different reason why they want to become an EMT.
If you could give advice to someone looking to become an EMT, what would you tell them?
Do it! Even if you are unsure where in the medical field you want to end up, this is a great place to start. EMT certification will give you the foundation you need to be successful in the medical field.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I would love the ability to fly! I always have dreams about flying, and think it would be really cool. I love to bird watch, so the ability to fly would give me a bird’s eye view! 🙂
