Meet AMT: Sam G.

We interview our staff members for details on their EMS journey.

When/Why did you first become interested in becoming an EMT/working in EMS?

I was a sophomore in undergrad, working on my biology degree, and interested in doing something in the medical field. I found Allied’s EMT program, figured it would be a good way to get my feet wet, and got my certification in July of 2020. I enjoyed EMS so much, I went on to become a paramedic in 2023!

Tell us about your experience in the EMS field. What jobs have you had?

I worked several different casual and part-time EMT jobs while I completed my undergraduate degree, then worked full-time as an EMT in Cincinnati doing interfacility transports while I got my paramedic certification. Once I got my paramedic certification, I moved back to Minnesota and started working at Allina Health EMS in the Twin Cities, where I’ve been for the past two years!

What is the most rewarding part about working in EMS?

Never knowing exactly what each day will bring, but knowing I’ll get to help someone.

What is your favorite part about working for Allied Medical Training?

Getting to share my love of EMS with students, and learning from students and my fellow instructors.

If you could give advice to someone looking to become an EMT, what would you tell them?

Be ready to step outside your comfort zone!

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I would love the power to speak any language- it would be super helpful at work and great for traveling!

Thanks, Sam!
